The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs (DLCA) is hosting a series of town hall meetings to bring public awareness to the Department’s role in the hemp and CBD industry in the territory. The town hall sessions are scheduled for this month on all three islands.

The meetings begin promptly at 6 p.m. at the following locations:

  • St. Croix: Tuesday, Jan. 21st at the Sunny Isles Amphitheater
  • St. John: Wednesday, Jan 22nd at the Cleone Henrietta Creque Legislative Building
  • St. Thomas: Thursday, Jan. 23rd at the Small Business Development Center located in Nisky Center

CBD - short for canabidiol, is derived from industrially certified hemp. It is legal to buy, sell and consume openly in the territory. Hemp is classified as any natural plant that contains a high concentration of cannabidiol, with no more than 0.3% THC content. CBD is sold in various forms, such as gummies, throughout the territory.

The DLCA aid other government agencies were invited to speak about the growing industry in the V.I. The Department said it “looks forward to an educated, robust discussion” at the town halls. Consumers or merchants with questions may contact the DLCA Commissioner’s office at 340-713-3522. For any other consumer related issues, contact the Department by email at [email protected] or Facebook.
