The Government of the Virgin Islands, through its Division of Personnel and the Office of Management and Budget, is now inviting applications for the next cohort of the GVI Financial Fellows Program. This initiative offers a two-year, entry-level opportunity aimed at recent graduates interested in public financial management.
Starting May 27, 2024, the program will accept applications until the deadline on August 16, 2024. Candidates are required to apply through the Division of Personnel's website at www.dopusvi.org/careers. The program emphasizes a rigorous selection process due to the limited number of slots available.
The GVI Financial Fellows Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in various governmental agencies over a two-year period, with rotations lasting between three to six months. Fellows will receive full-time employment benefits comparable to other GVI employees and will work under the guidance of a Departmental Fellowship Coordinator and a mentor.
During their tenure, fellows will engage in a variety of assignments, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. In their second year, they are tasked with identifying and addressing a significant business challenge within the GVI, culminating in a project that contributes to resolving a critical governmental issue.
Qualifications for the program include a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university, earned within the last three years. Preferred fields of study include Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Project Management, Statistics, and Economics.
The Division of Personnel emphasized the program's role in deepening fellows' understanding of government operations and local issues, acquiring significant professional experience that is essential for career advancement. This initiative not only prepares them for successful careers within the GVI but also helps to cultivate innovative solutions to workplace challenges.
