The V.I. Department of Human Services has announced a new funding opportunity aimed at bolstering family violence prevention services and domestic violence shelter and support services in the territory for fiscal year 2023.
The call for proposals is open to all eligible nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations that provide domestic violence services.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to address family violence issues in the territory, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration of Children and Families Family Violence Prevention Services Act S303.
The main goal of the Family Violence Prevention Services funds is to maintain and expand programs that offer shelter and support to victims of domestic violence, family violence, and their dependent children. The grant program supports a range of services, including emergency shelters and related support services.
Kendall Tutein, VIDHS Director of Nonprofits and Support Services, says that interested organizations can request an application via email (mailto: [email protected]), using the subject line: FY2023 FVPSA CORE PROGRAM PROPOSAL.
Applications can also be picked up at the VIDHS offices located at the Knud Hansen Complex at Hospital Ground on St. Thomas, or 3012 Golden Rock on St. Croix. Alternatively, interested parties can call (340) 718-2980 (St. Croix) or (340)774-0930 (St. Thomas) for further information.
The deadline for submitting proposals, either electronically or by drop-off, is August 14, 2023. Eligible applicants include nonprofit agencies providing domestic violence services that can meet all requirements to execute a Notice of Grant Award.
