Dept. of Justice Releases Autopsies of Botany Bay Helicopter Crash Victims

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Dept. of Justice late Wednesday officially released the names of the victims involved in the Mon. Feb. 15 helicopter crash at Botany Bay, as well as the autopsies revealing cause of death.

According to D.O.J., following performance of the autopsies and forensic evaluations of the remains, D.O.J. Medical Examiner, Dr. Francisco Landron, positively identified each victim and certified the immediate cause of death of each victim as “multiple injuries due to blunt force trauma.”

The manner of death for each was certified as an “accident," said the D.O.J. release.

As previously reported, the crash victims, a pilot, and a family of three who were passengers of the aircraft were identified as:

• Maria Rodriguez Vanheurck, 55

• Daniel Yannone, 54

• Tyler Yannone, 18

• Neisha K. Zahn, 52.

"On behalf of the Dept. of Justice, we again extend our deepest condolences. Our prayers and sympathies are with the families and friends of those who died as a result of this tragedy,” said V.I. Attorney General Denise George.
