The V.I. Dept. of Education on Friday released a new operational schedule starting Monday, November 6. This revision aims to ensure that public schools in the district meet the mandated minimum instructional hours while emphasizing the importance of in-person learning, the department said.
New School Hours for Eulalie R. Rivera PK-8
Starting on the effective date, Eulalie R. Rivera PK-8 School will operate from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm, with dismissal procedures beginning at 1:45 pm.
Hybrid Schedule at St. Croix Central High School
St. Croix Central High School is set to transition to a hybrid learning model that includes a virtual Flex Block every day. Physical classes will run from 7:40 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a virtual intervention period from 1:15 pm to 2:20 pm.
Virtual Morning, In-Person Afternoon for John H. Woodson Jr. High
Beginning Wednesday, November 8, John H. Woodson Jr. High School will adopt a hybrid schedule with virtual classes in the morning from 8:00 am to 10:10 am and in-person classes at the Central High School campus from 12:40 pm to 4:00 pm. Transportation will be arranged with pickups commencing at 11:30 am.
St. Croix Educational Complex Embraces Hybrid Learning
Similarly, the St. Croix Educational Complex will start a hybrid schedule, with in-person instruction from 7:40 am to 1:05 pm and a virtual Flex Block from 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm.
St. Croix District Superintendent of Schools, Ericilda Herman, believes these adjustments will fulfill the legal requirement for minimum instructional hours while maintaining the quality of education. "It is essential for our students to receive a quality education in an in-person setting, and these changes will help achieve this goal,” she said.
