Following Governor Albert Bryan Jr.'s decision to grant leave to non-essential government employees in observance of the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett announced that her office would remain open for business as usual.
“The House will be in session on Thursday, January 9th and my offices in the Virgin Islands and DC will be open in order to support the needs of our community,” Ms. Plaskett said.
Despite the closure of local government offices and agencies, Ms. Plaskett noted that “President Carter was known for his exceptional work ethic and service to all people.” Leaving the offices open, she says, is a “privilege for me and my team to honor his memory through our dedication to the people of the Virgin Islands.”
