The Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center announced Wednesday that it is set to transfer patients to its new temporary facility, JFL North, on April 22. The announcement comes as the hospital says it has resolved four critical issues previously identified during final inspections.

The hospital said that to ensure patient safety during the move, it has issued several requests to the St. Croix community. Hospital visitations will be restricted from 7:00 p.m. on April 21 to 8:30 a.m. on April 24. The community is also advised to avoid the area surrounding the hospital campus, particularly Peppertree Road, on Saturday, when the relocation is scheduled to take place.

JFL CEO Douglas Koch emphasized the importance of patient safety, stating, "To facilitate a smooth, safe, and efficient move, we must limit the number of persons present to the essential personnel." Mr. Koch urged the community to refrain from visiting the area out of curiosity, as it may hinder the process.

Mr. Koch also requested that the community do its best to avoid seeking hospital services over the weekend, although he acknowledged that emergencies are inevitable. "We are prepared to handle those while the move is taking place," he said. "However, if the same situation occurs from last weekend due to violence, it will jeopardize the move and delay the process completely."
