The V.I. Department of Education early this morning released its Phase 1 plan regarding public school operations for Thursday, October 5, in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Philippe. Central High School in the St. Croix District will remain closed, while Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School in the St. Thomas-St. John District will transition to virtual instruction. The announcement comes as the department conducts assessments to gauge the storm's impact on school campuses and assess the implications of power outages from the Water and Power Authority.
For this initial phase of reporting:
Closed School:
- St. Croix District: Central High School is closed to facilitate additional maintenance and cleaning. Faculty members at this institution are directed to communicate assignments to students through Teams/Schoology platforms.
Virtual Learning:
- St. Thomas-St. John District: Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School will be conducting classes virtually.
Instructional Packet Distribution:
- St. Croix District: Eulalie R. Rivera K-8 School will offer instructional packets for pickup by parents/guardians between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. Faculty of this school are to report by 8:30 am.
