The V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue has informed affected taxpayers that they will receive Letter 6419 in the mail this week, which informs taxpayers of the amount of the 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit payments that were issued to them from August through December of 2021.
Letter 6419 includes:
- Total amount of 2021 advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments
- Number of qualifying children used to calculate advance payments, and repayment protection when filing your 2021 federal tax return
The letter includes the total amount of 2021 advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments, and the number of qualifying children used to calculate advance payments. Taxpayers should keep this letter and provide it to their tax preparer to properly calculate the balance of the Child Tax Credit amount they can claim for tax year 2021, B.I.R. said.
Eligible taxpayers who did not receive any advance Child Tax Credit payments can claim the full amount of the child tax credit on their 2021 income tax return. This includes taxpayers who do not normally have a requirement to file a tax return, B.I.R. said.
If there are any questions regarding the advance Child Tax Credit, contact Mr. Roosevelt Davis at 715-1040, ext. 2223.
