Government House announced Wednesday that Governor Albert Bryan on Monday issued a proclamation recognizing “National Crime Victims’ Rights Week,” which is celebrating its 40th anniversary from April 18-24 and now is an initiative of the federal Office for Victims of Crime, a division within the U.S. Department of Justice.
This year’s theme is “Support Victims. Build Trust. Engage Communities.”
The purpose of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is to raise awareness of victims’ rights and services, highlight programs for crime victims and honor victims and the professionals who serve them.
According to Gov't House, Mr. Bryan said his proclamation reaffirms the territory’s commitment to creating a victim services and criminal justice response that assists all victims of crime, and he expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to those members of the community who are victim service providers and to the criminal justice professionals who are committed to improving our response to all victims of crime.
