Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has nominated two Virgin Islanders to the territory’s judiciary: Judge Denise M. Francois to the V.I. Supreme Court and attorney Renee M. Andre to the V.I. Superior Court for the St. Thomas–St. John district.
Judge Francois, a long-serving member of the territorial court system, was renominated for a second term on the Supreme Court, according to Bryan. Her record in the courts and prior judicial service were cited as key qualifications.
Renée M. André, a longtime St. Thomas attorney and mother of two, was nominated to fill a seat on the Superior Court. The governor described André as a respected practitioner from the private sector whose work has prepared her for the responsibilities of the bench.
Highlighting the nominations during the Government House press briefing on March 2, 2026, the governor described the selections as experienced, local leaders. He added he expects a smooth confirmation process. “I'm sure there'll be no problem,” the governor said.
Bryan framed the nominations within a broader theme of elevating local talent and promoting women’s leadership, noting that the nominations were being sent to the Legislature during Women’s History Month. Both nominees, he said, have long records of service and professional experience in the territory’s legal system.
