Governor Albert Bryan has issued a proclamation granting administrative leave on Monday, July 5 for non-essential government employees.
The Monday was granted off because V.I. Emancipation Day falls on Saturday, July 3, and the Fourth of July holiday falls on a Sunday this year, Government House said. All government offices will be closed on Monday, July 5.
The leave granted does not apply to essential employees and employees on a regular or rotating shift. Employees on annual or sick leave immediately preceding or immediately following the period administrative leave is granted will not receive administrative leave, and future leave will not be substituted for employees who are considered essential and/or whose shift happens to fall on a day in which other employees, according to the administration.
