FREDERIKSTED — Hundreds of women and supporters gathered in Frederiksted on Sunday afternoon for the 2026 Women's Race, the annual community event organized by the Women's Coalition of St. Croix to raise awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other forms of violence while supporting survivors and their families.
Bridget Klein of the Jolly Roger Run Club claimed the overall title, crossing the finish line in 13 minutes, 13.06 seconds to lead the field.
Kennedy James of the St. Croix Track Club finished second overall in 14:21.95, while Asia Williams of the Jolly Roger Run Club placed third in 15:41.78.
The Women's Race serves as the Women's Coalition of St. Croix's signature fundraising event. Proceeds help support the organization's crisis intervention, advocacy, shelter, and support services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout the territory.
Division winners included Grace Eatmon in the 9-13 category, Kennedy James in the 14-17 division, Kirra Lambert in the 18-20 division, Maia Foley in the 21-29 division, Brooke Runkle in the 30-39 division, Bridget Klein in the 40-49 division, Kimberly Nelson in the 50-59 division, Ophelia Jackson in the 60-69 division, Sheelagh Fromer in the 70-79 division, and Donna Duffy in the 80-and-over category.
Klein's winning time of 13:13.06 gave her a margin of more than a minute over the rest of the field as participants made their way through Frederiksted during the annual event.
The race has become one of St. Croix's longest-running community traditions, bringing together runners, walkers, families, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and advocates in a visible show of support for survivors and the services provided by the Women's Coalition.
Sunday's event continued that tradition, drawing participants of all ages to Frederiksted in support of the coalition's mission and the ongoing effort to raise awareness about violence prevention and survivor support in the Virgin Islands.
