Alpine Securities USVI pledged to match all donations of up to $50,000 made to My Brother's Workshop’s Spread Hope fundraising campaign, and by April 13 MBW supporters answered the call of that match by raising $50,000.
That's according to MBW, which said the result was $100,000 raised to provide meals and essential items to the vulnerable population of the VI, while keeping MBW trainees enrolled and engaged in their program of mentorship, education, mental health counseling, on-the-job training and job placement.
Alpine Securities USVI, an equity trading firm, said its goal is to support Virgin Islands nonprofit organizations that improve the health, well-being, and economic vitality of communities. The firm's philanthropic goals include supporting Virgin Islands non-profit organizations that improve.
"Partnering with My Brother's Workshop on their COVID-19 relief efforts was a no-brainer," said Alpine Director of External Affairs, Annalise Setorie. "An integral part of the Virgin Islands community, MBW has provided, and continues to provide, support to those that need it the most. We are proud to collaborate with them so that they can continue their efforts to serve the people of the Virgin Islands."
My Brother’s Workshop said it has partnered with local government agencies, businesses and other nonprofits during the coronavirus pandemic to provide meals and essential supplies to seniors, homeless, displaced school children, those with compromised immune systems and families with medical or special needs in the USVI. MBW said its long-standing partnerships in the community and their actions after Irma and Maria have placed it in a position to stand in the gap for the vulnerable groups while avoiding duplicating response efforts.
Since launching their “Meals on Wheels'' initiative on Monday, March 23, MBW Cafe and Bakery has prepared and distributed over 8,000 meals to those in need on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. Their workshops on St. Thomas and St. Croix along with volunteers in the community are distributing on a needs basis in order to help the territory's most vulnerable population. The health and wellbeing of these individuals remains MBW’s primary objective, the nonprofit said. MBW said it continue to raise funds and seek partnerships to provide for those in need as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect community members.
