The St. Croix Agriculture and Food Fair 2021 has been canceled because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, announced the event's board of directors Wednesday. The move, though somewhat expected, represents a blow to the St. Croix community, especially for participating vendors who look to the event as part of their annual revenue haul.

"After much gut wrenching contemplation, discussion, and weighing, the Agriculture and Food Fair of the U.S.V.I. Board of Directors is sad to announce that due to ongoing uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic and the safety of our Virgin Islands Society, the Annual Agriculture and Food Fair of the U.S.V.I. 2021 is postponed until February 2022," the board said in a release today,

It added, "We will recognize and celebrate the acknowledgement deserving of a fiftieth (50th) Anniversary Celebration in Grandeur Fashion in 2022. We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointments this may cause. Our safety is of paramount importance."

The board said vendors can pursue opportunities at the Dept. of Agriculture's Saturday "Market Farmer’s Exchange".

The 49th Agrifest event was held in February 2020, right before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
