Government Employees will not get Monday off for D. Hamilton Jackson Day (also known as Bull and Bread Day). The holiday falls on Nov. 1 every year, which this year is Sunday. The governor has discretion to grant Monday as the holiday because November 1st falls on a weekend, but Mr. Bryan has decided against it, according to Government House.
"Because government offices offering important services to the public will be closed on Tuesday, Election Day, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has chosen not to grant administrative leave this year on Monday, November 2," said Government House.
Pursuant to Title 18 VIC Sec. 3, Election Day, which is on Tuesday, November 3, is an official government holiday and all government employees will have administrative leave, the administration said.
Employees in the private sector who are required to work on Election Day, V.I. Code requires that they must be granted 2 hours leave from work to vote.
