Grammy nominated Plena Libre of Puerto Rico

AARP in The Virgin Islands will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual concert, according to a recently issued release. The organization's USVI and PR arms will host the show in honor of Caregivers across the two territories and the U.S. on Saturday, October 9, at 7 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. CT, 5:00 p.m. MT, and 4:00 p.m. PT, LIVE on the web.  Caregiving resources will be available for all caregivers during the virtual event, which is bilingual.

The event includes workshops that feature the Afro-Rican sounds of four-time Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-nominated Plena Libre of Puerto Rico, stated the release. Plena Libre will perform Bomba and Plena and spotlight the beginnings and history of the music genres and cultural dances with demonstrations by folkloric dancers.

All Virgin Islanders and attendees across the U.S. are invited to attend the free event. Registration is required to watch and enjoy the show.  Visit https://aarp.cvent.com/AARPVIUnitedByOurRootsHHM2021 to register.  AARP membership is not required.  Registrants must be 18 years old or older.  Children are allowed to watch the show under the supervision of an older adult by way of the same link provided to the older adult or legal guardian.
