70-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on Bypass

ST. CROIX — A 70-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during a car accident on the Bypass Saturday night, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to police, on Saturday at approximately 6:15 p.m., a vehicle traveling west on the Christiansted Bypass in the vicinity of Peter's Farm Condominiums, struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway.

The pedestrian, a caucasian male, was transported to the Juan Luis Hospital and Medical Center by ambulance, and later succumbed to the injuries sustained during the accident.

The victim's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to police.

This incident is under investigation by the V.I.P.D.'s Traffic Investigation Bureau.
