ST. CROIX — A young man who resided in the community of St. George was found deceased in his bedroom on Wednesday, reportedly due to suicide, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed to the Consortium.

The 911 Emergency Call Center alerted the VIPD, and upon officers' arrival to the scene, a paramedic reported that the deceased individual, identified by next of kin as 25-year-old Djante Carrington, was still warm when found. However despite immediate efforts to revive him, Carrington showed no sign of life.

Police made contact with Carrington's ex-girlfriend, who wished to remain anonymous. She shared the distressing events that unfolded in the lead-up to the discovery of Carrington's body. According to her, the couple had separated on January 4 due to Carrington's repeated infidelity.

The ex-girlfriend revealed that she had received a distressing call from Carrington's best friend, who urged her to check on him after receiving what sounded like a farewell message from Carrington. Upon reaching his residence, they tried contacting Carrington who answered the phone but refused to open the door. In a state of rising concern, they broke a window to enter the premises. Once inside, they found Carrington hanging in his bedroom and immediately dialed 911.

Born on April 14, 1998, Carrington was a black male, 5'5" in height. Medicolegal investigators from the Department of Justice have removed Carrington's remains from the site, according to the VIPD.
