On Monday, Government House Communications Director Richard Motta announced the upcoming Veterans Day observances that would take place on each island.

A pre-Veterans Day ceremony will be held in Cruz Bay, St. John on Sunday, November 10. Beginning at 1 p.m., a parade will take place starting at the National Park grounds, heading towards the old First Bank location, and culminating at the Frank J. Powell Ballpark bandstand. Immediately after the parade, attendees will be treated to a short concert by the Virgin Islands National Guard 73rd Army Band. The celebration on St. John will honor Henry A. Powell.

On Veterans Day itself – Monday, November 11 – activities move to St. Thomas, where the parade will begin at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Emile Griffith Ballpark. The procession will move down Veterans Drive and end at Emancipation Garden, followed by an official ceremony in honor of Verne A. Hodge.

The parade on St. Croix will begin at 3 p.m. on Veterans Day, starting at the head of King Street, moving to Buddhoe Park, and ending at the Verne I. Richard Memorial park. The ceremony after the parade will honor Wilfred Tuitt.

“This year's theme is loyalty,” said Mr. Motta, “a fitting tribute to the unwavering dedication of our veterans.” He encouraged Virgin Islanders to come out to celebrate and honor the sacrifice of the territory's armed service veterans.
