The Department of Education's State Office of Special Nutrition Programs announced Thursday the availability of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in accordance with federal civil rights laws and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies.
According to the release, the Child and Adult Care Food Program provides aid to child and adult care institutions and sponsors for the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children; and the health and wellness of older adults and chronically impaired disabled persons.
CACFP participants, except for At-Risk Afterschool Centers and Emergency Shelters, are reimbursed for each meal served according to predetermined USDA reimbursement rates based on the income levels of the families served by the Program.
The charts below contain the income guidelines and reimbursement rates that will be used to determine funding from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
The institutions and organizations that are eligible to apply for the assistance provided by this program are:
- Child Care Centers (Independent or sponsored: Public or Private Non-Profit Centers; For-Profit Centers; Outside School-Hours Care Centers; and Head Start Programs)
- Family Day Care Homes
- Faith-Based Community Organizations
- At-Risk Afterschool Care Centers
- Emergency Shelters
- Adult Day Care Centers
