Here's the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority's latest update on power and potable water restoration territory-wide.
ELECTRIC SYSTEM
- Restoration crews worked Monday on St. Croix at locations including: Frederiksted Town, Estate Richmond, La Grande Princesse, the LBJ housing community, Golden Rock, Hannah’s Rest, Estates Campo Rico and Whim and the Industrial Park. Crews continued to work on replacing poles on Feeder 6A from the Richmond Power Plant to Five Corners and on Feeder 8B from Hannah’s Rest to Frederiksted. The underground sections of Feeder 1A in downtown Christiansted were fully energized over the weekend.
- On St. Thomas, crews completed the installation of replacement poles to UVI on Feeder 6A as well as to Peterborg on Feeder 8B. WAPA and its contractors are working to energize sections of Feeders 8A and 8B this week. Over the weekend, crews completed repairs and energized the Ron de Lugo Federal Building, the Alexander Farrelly Justice Center, the Professional Building and the Legislature’s Capitol Building as well as highway lighting along the waterfront and portions of Harwood Highway.
- St. John crews continue to work in the Cruz Bay area planting new poles from the roundabout toward the Myrah Keating Smith Health Clinic.
- Emergency call centers on St. Thomas & St. Croix are operating daily on a 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. schedule. The call centers are the primary means by which customers can advise the Authority of isolated service interruptions once crews have carried out restoration work. The call center operating hours will be adjusted as restoration into neighborhoods and communities takes shape. - WAPA continues to work jointly with Viya, the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, and the Department of Public Works on a clean-up initiative across the territory. The Authority is also working alongside the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network, viNGN.
