Scotiabank and Firstbank VI will close at noon today as Tropical Storm Karen approaches, giving their employees time to prepare. Both Scotiabank and Firstbank will remain closed Tuesday.
The territory's other major bank, Banco Popular, will remain open until 2:00 p.m. today, according to Oran Roebuck, senior vice president and division manager of the Virgin Islands Region of Banco Popular. Like Scotiabank and Firstbank, Banco Popular will remain closed Tuesday.
Merchants Bank closes at 4:00 p.m. today.
All banks hope to resume normal service on Wednesday.
The banks' ATMs will remain operational while conditions allow. Accounts can also be accessed 24/7 through the Online and Mobile Banking platforms.
