ST. CROIX -- Public Works Commissioner Gustav James is notifying the motoring public of a bridge closure on Route 669 -- east of the Department of Agriculture facility on St. Croix -- will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice, according to a press release Government House issued on Friday.
The road closure is due to severe deterioration of the bridge structure midway into the long stretch, which poses a safety risk, the release states.
"I am seeking the indulgence of motorists and the travelling public to comply with this road closure notice, while the Department of Public Works undertakes the necessary steps to correct this problem," Commissioner James said.
During the closure, motorists are urged to use Route 65 through Bethlehem and Route 69 through Grove Place.
DOA says it regrets any inconvenience the closure may cause.
