ST. CROIX  -- The Virgin Islands Department of Education announced late Tuesday that classes will resume at the Ricardo Richards Elementary School on Wednesday, following an early dismissal of the school on Tuesday.

The early release was the result of a damaged underground water pipe, which has been repaired, according to D.O.E.

Elena Christian Jr. High school was also dismissed early on today due to ongoing low water pressure being experienced in the school’s buildings, and D.O.E. says Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority crews are currently installing a second line to increase water pressure to the pump.

The release did not say if there would be school for Elena Christian tomorrow, as W.A.P.A. crews continue to work on the water pressure problem. It did say, however, that parents and students should stay tuned for updates from the department and the media.
