ST. CROIX – Businesses in the Virgin Islands are encouraged to participate in the Summer Youth Work Experience and Training Program, the Department of Labor said.
All businesses, including, not-for-profit organizations, and training service providers are eligible to take part in the program, according to the Workforce Development Division of the Labor Department.
Labor said it needs employers and agencies willing to provide six weeks of work experience and job training for youths 16 to 24 years old.
Service providers and organizations willing to provide four-week life skills and career exploration activities for youths 14 to 15 years old could be eligible for grants of up to $4,800 for qualified providers, the department said.
Interested employers and organizations should obtain a “Request For Summer Youth Work Experience Program Participation” and “Summer Youth Workshop Application” by contacting Fernando Webster at 340-776-3700 x2061 ([email protected]) on St. Thomas or Kendra Young at 340-773-1994 x2145 ([email protected]) on St. Croix. Applications can also be picked up at our St. Thomas and St. Croix locations. The deadline to apply is May 22.
