Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach, who also serves as the Virgin Islands commissioner of Insurance, is reminding Medicare beneficiaries that Medicare provides coverage for FDA-approved Covid-19 vaccines. Medicare also covers Covid-19 tests, Covid-19 antibody tests, and Covid-19 monoclonal antibody treatments.
“I encourage Virgin Islands Medicare beneficiaries to review their plan regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccinations," Mr. Roach said. "Medicare beneficiaries pay zero costs for COVID-19 vaccines if they have Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) or if they are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan. If beneficiaries have Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) only, they still will not incur a cost for the vaccine."
According to the release, beneficiaries should walk with their red, white, and blue Medicare card when going to a health care provider or pharmacy. If there is a form to complete that asks for the insurer’s group number, that field should be left blank, Mr. Roach said.
