As J’Ouvert 2024 approaches, the V.I. Taxicab Commission, in partnership with the V.I. Police Department is promoting safe celebration practices. The initiative, announced Sunday, emphasizes the dangers of drinking and driving, urging party-goers to use the designated "Safe Ride Shuttles" instead.

Free shuttle services will be available on Thursday, May 2, 2024, starting immediately after the J’Ouvert celebrations. Revelers can catch their ride in front of the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex and travel eastward, with stops planned along the Safari Bus route. Key stops will include Raphune Hill, Fort Mylner, Tutu Park Mall, Smith Bay, Red Hook, Nazareth, Frydenhoj, Nadir, Bovoni, Bolongo, Frenchman’s Bay, and Haven Sight.

Highlighting the convenience and safety of this initiative, no vouchers are needed for the service. The organizers remind everyone that “the life you save may be your own,” reinforcing the campaign’s focus on preventing drunk driving incidents during one of the most festive celebrations in the territory.
