Momentum is building for the upcoming Value Your Future! Youth Financial Literacy Symposium, with nearly half of the available student spots already filled ahead of the March event, organizers announced this week.
The free, full-day symposium is scheduled for March 14 at RTPark on St. Croix, and is open to students ages 13 to 17. Organizers say the strong early registration signals growing interest among Virgin Islands youth in learning practical financial skills that can shape long-term decision-making.
Valure, the organization hosting the event, said the response from students and families has been both encouraging and inspiring as planning enters its final stages.
“We’re thrilled by the early turnout,” said Leon Perkins, founder of Valure and author of Value Your Future! A Young Investor’s Story. “It shows there’s a real hunger among our youth to understand money, opportunity, and how to build a stronger future for themselves.”
The symposium is designed to provide hands-on, real-world financial education. Participants will engage in interactive learning sessions covering topics such as wages and budgeting, the stock market, credit and taxes, and major life purchases including cars and homes. The sessions will be led by mentors and professionals focused on youth development.
In addition to educational programming, the event will feature guest speakers, interactive activities, giveaways, and meals, creating what organizers describe as a welcoming and engaging environment for students. Thanks to early supporters and partners, the symposium will remain completely free for participants, eliminating financial barriers to access and participation.
As student registration continues to climb, Valure is also calling on community partners, local businesses, and organizations to help support the initiative. Sponsorships and donations, the organization said, will help offset event costs, expand student capacity, enhance programming, and ensure each participant leaves with meaningful resources and inspiration.
Supporters will receive recognition before, during, and after the event through digital promotion, on-site visibility, and post-event media recaps.
“We are building something special together,” Perkins added. “This symposium is about more than one day—it’s about planting seeds that will benefit our community for years to come.”
Student registration remains open but limited. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available as planning for the symposium moves toward completion.
