As part of the Small Business Administration’s 2022 National Small Business Week Summit, Oriental Bank was awarded the 2022 Lender of the Year for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The award is given to the lender who made the most use of the SBA funds and guaranteed programs, according to a release issued Friday. The presentation was made at the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VISBDC) on Thursday, May 5th.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Accepting the award was Renissa Gutiérriez Pérez, Oriental Business Banking Manager for the USVI. “It is a privilege to be able to help small businesses, not only in their entrepreneurship, but to grow their business," she said. "Oriental is more than committed to continually providing opportunity and partnerships so that small businesses get the advice and services needed for their businesses.”

Founded in 1964, Oriental Bank is one of the leading banking financial services companies in Puerto and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the release said. Through its main subsidiaries, Oriental Bank and Oriental Financial Services provides a wide range of retail and commercial banking, lending and wealth management products, services and technology through more than 40 branches in the Caribbean
