The V.I. Consortium has announced Monday, Oct. 12 as the new launch date of its regional news product, called "VIC Regional News",  with company founder and publisher, Ernice Gilbert, telling the publication that technical issues with programming that were previously unforeseen, meant the product could not launch on Oct. 5 while maintaining the high bar of quality he has set for it.

He also announced his decision to move the newscast from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mr. Gilbert did not elaborate on the issues, but a source with knowledge of the matter said last-minute problems with program rendering led to Mr. Gilbert making the decision to pull the plug on the Oct. 5 launch date. This person said the program could have launched Tuesday, but Mr. Gilbert's word was final.

VIC Regional News will be anchored by Janeka Simon, an award-winning, world-class investigative journalist.

The newscast will feature content from across the Caribbean, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, and is part of Mr. Gilbert's effort to unite the Caribbean by exposing the islands' cultures, lifestyle, politics and entertainment.
