M1 Enterprises USVI, LLC, an RTPark member company, has announced the graduation of its first cohort of professional medical billers on April 15, the RT Park made known Thursday. The 16 newly certified individuals completed 110 days of intensive, specialized training, preparing them for rewarding, in-demand careers in the healthcare and technology sectors.
These medical billing and coding specialists play a crucial role in streamlining the reimbursement process for healthcare providers, improving patient care quality. The flexible, remote training program has already garnered interest from more than four employers, indicating a strong demand for their skills, according to the release.
Ida Lee, a program graduate and mother of three, praised the initiative for accommodating her personal circumstances. The training's adaptability allowed her to study on her phone, offering various learning tools to support her journey.
UVI Research and Technology Park CEO Peter H. Chapman congratulated the graduates, highlighting the importance of such tech-based training programs in building a skilled workforce. As a result, the Virgin Islands can maintain its economic growth and innovation in an ever-changing world, the RTPark said.
The collaboration between various territorial agencies, including the CDBG-DR Skills for Today Grant and the V.I. Department of Labor, has facilitated the recruitment, training, and funding for these graduates, as well as the next cohort currently undergoing training.
M1 Enterprises, a veteran-owned small business, was established in the USVI on October 31, 2022, following the merger of two entities with over 25 years of combined experience in healthcare and training. The company aims to train remote workforces in medical billing, coding, auditing, and revenue cycle services.
Since its launch, M1 has received 190 website applicants, channeled over 60 into the training process, and celebrated 16 graduates. To ensure accessibility, the company provides laptops for trainees during their training period, the RTPark made known.
Doug Rideout, M1's CEO, expressed pride in the company's contribution to the territory's economic growth and residents' career empowerment. He encouraged anyone interested in pursuing a healthcare and technology-related career to contact M1.
