After sustaining widespread damage following the storms of 2017, the Divi Carina Bay Resort announced a partial opening from Oct. 1 2021 through Jan. 31 2022, after being closed for four years.

"From October 1, 2021 through January 31, 2022, Divi Carina Bay will offer room-only, adult-only (18+) vacations with limited food and beverage outlets," the hotel said on its website. "From February 1, 2022, Divi Carina Bay will fully reopen as an all-inclusive, adult-only (18+) experience, with multiple dining and beverage choices."

In November 2020 the resort came under fire from the V.I. Casino Control Commission to reopen or face steep, daily fines. At the time, the V.I.C.C.C., which has jurisdiction over gaming facilities and their adjoining businesses such as resorts, said it had given the owners of the resort and casino, Grapetree Shores, Inc., and Treasure Bay VI an abundance of chances, with the owners of the resort and casino making and receiving multiple requests overtime calling for extensions to previously set reopening dates following Hurricane Maria's devastation to the properties.

On its website, Divi said that from February 1, 2022 it will offer "an all-inclusive, adult-only experience like no other on St. Croix, with unlimited food, drinks, and non-motorized water sports."

It added, "For an even more exclusive stay where you'll be treated like the VIP you are, take advantage of our brand new, upper-tier Oceans at Divi Carina Bay starting February 1, 2022. Oceans guests will enjoy larger Oceans Beachfront King and Beachfront Double rooms with added amenities and perks like fluffy robes, comfy slippers, gourmet coffee, spa amenities, and more."
