Popular announced today that they will accept applications from the Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) until 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 29. The United States Congress launched the second round of aid, which began on April 27, with a $310 billion budget.

During the time that the program has been in place, Popular said it has supported thousands of merchants, self-employed customers, and nonprofit organizations. "We continue working and inviting qualified businesses to submit their applications on or before Monday so that they can benefit from this program that helps them continue their operations," said Eli Sepúlveda, executive vice president of Commercial Credit at Popular, Inc.

The program is part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, (CARES Act), a federal legislation designed to help businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
