ST. THOMAS -- The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority's interim Executive Director Julio Rhymer, Sr., confirmed at a board meeting here on Wednesday that W.A.P.A.'s propane conversion would be up and running in St. Croix on April 4.
St. Thomas, however, won't be up until mid-July, which is due to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' permit coming months after St. Croix, slowing W.A.P.A.'s progress.
Mr. Rhymer said the Richmond plant, above, will be operational by April 4, and W.A.P.A. will file for a new rate on April 1 for a six-month period beginning July 1, which should reflect the 30 percent savings that the semiautonomous entity said would be realized once the conversion was complete.
