Vehicular Accident in Kingshill Area Leads to Death of 31-Year-Old Man

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has announced that a two-vehicle accident during the early hours of Saturday morning, in the vicinity of Jean Romney Drive in the Kingshill area has resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 12:06 a.m. Saturday received a report from a concerned resident about the accident. He said the resident requested an ambulance and explained that someone had been trapped under one of the two vehicles involved.

The Emergency Call Center dispatched the V.I.P.D., the V.I. Fire Service an Emergency Medical Services to the location and a preliminary investigation was conducted. According to police, the investigation revealed that a Honda Civic was traveling south to north on the Northside Road in the vicinity of Jean Romney Drive in the Kingshill area, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into the north-bound lane and collided with a Toyota Tundra heading from north to south. 

The driver in the Honda civic was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries sustained during the accident, the V.I.P.D. said.

The deceased was identified by next of kin as Hakeem O. Alfred, age 28 of the Louis E. Brown Apartments.

The V.I.P.D.'s Traffic Investigations Bureau (TIB) is investigating incident, according to police.
