Tragic Drowning Incident at Cinnamon Bay Beach Claims Life of 41-Year-Old Man

ST. JOHN — A snorkeling trip turned tragic on Monday when a 41-year-old man from Pittsburgh drowned at Cinnamon Bay Beach, St. John, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

Authorities were notified of the incident at approximately 12:50 p.m., and the case is currently under investigation by the V.I.P.D.'s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

According to reports, Christopher Yuhos, accompanied by his wife, children, and friends, went snorkeling at the popular beach destination. During their excursion, Yuhos experienced issues with his snorkeling equipment and decided to swim back to shore, according to police. While swimming, he began to yell for help.

Bystanders on the shore rushed to assist Yuhos, who had become unresponsive. They managed to bring him ashore, where he was then transported to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic. However, efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and he succumbed to the incident. His wife subsequently identified him.
