ST. CROIX — The Carambola Beach Resort said Tuesday that a man who washed up on its shores near some rocks, actually drowned at the Annaly Bay Tide Pools.

The Consortium learned of the incident early Sunday through two sources with knowledge of the incident, and it was subsequently confirmed by the V.I. Police Department.

According to Police Lieutenant Naomi Joseph, who spoke during a press conference held Sunday where the overnight shootings on St. Croix were addressed, the man, identified as Peter Lowe, was diving with some companions "and they ran into some trouble and he died as result of drowning," she said.

The resort wanted to clarify that the incident did not occur on its property, nor was the diving activity part of a Carambola-planned event.

Lt. Joseph said she did not know the victim's age; his place of origin was also not released. The Consortium has learned that the victim did not travel to the territory alone.
