ST. THOMAS — A motorcyclist on Sunday succumbed to injuries sustained during a vehicular accident that occurred on the Weymouth Highway, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to the police report, on Sunday at approximately 5:01 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Weymouth Rhymer Highway, in the area of the Donoe Road intersection, to a report of an automobile collision.

Upon arrival, officers found evidence of a collision between a minivan and a motorcycle. The body of an unresponsive male was lying in the eastbound lane, Mr. Derima said.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the minivan was traveling west on the roadway, as the motorcycle traveled east. The vehicles collided and the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the collision.

Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene concluded that the rider of the motorcycle had no signs of life. The driver of the minivan was transported to the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment and released.

The rider of the motorcycle was identified as 32-year-old Rudy Jeanne.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that could help police learn of what happened, to call 911 or the Traffic Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211.
