Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Tourist Dies in Trunk Bay, St. John

Trunk Bay, St. John

ST. JOHN — A cruise ship passenger aboard Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas was pronounced dead in St. John on Wednesday after being removed from seawater, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

V.I.P.D. details of the matter were scant, however the incident occurred in Trunk Bay, St. John, and the police department said the victim, an elderly male, received help from fellow passengers of the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, who removed him from the water and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR to no avail.

An EMS team from the Myrah Keating Smith Health Center responded and were unable to retrieve a pulse on the victim, the V.I.P.D. said.

The victim was identified as 72-year-old Alfred Fahlstedt, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
