Motorcyclist Dies Following Head-on Collision With ATV on East End Road; Two Others Injured

ST. CROIX — A man was pronounced dead on the scene Tuesday night after the motorcycle that he was riding collided with a Polaris Off Road Vehicle (ATV) RZR 900, which looks like this.

The accident, which occurred just east of the Seaside Market and Deli on the East End Road, also left two of the ATV occupants injured, V.I. Police Department Spokesman Toby Derima confirmed to the Consortium.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of the accident at about 8:37 p.m., Mr. Derima said. According to a preliminary investigation, the ATV was traveling east while the motorcycle was headed west. "Based on the investigation, the collision occurred in the west-bound lane," Mr. Derima said.

Identification of the deceased victim, a white male, was withheld pending next of kin notification. 

The two injured occupants of the ATV were transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, with one of the victims needing to undergo surgery, Mr. Derima said. 

Police are continuing their investigation into the accident, according to the V.I.P.D.
