Man Dies After Truck Rolls Down Decline and Traps Him at Contant Residence, VIPD Says

VIPD says Pedro Solano Castro, 58, was under his truck Tuesday evening when it rolled down a short decline, struck another vehicle and trapped him; a family member discovered him and called 911.

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicular incident in Contant after a 58-year-old man died Tuesday evening when a truck rolled down a short decline and trapped him underneath.

According to the VIPD, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a citizen at 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday, reporting that a truck had rolled over a male at a residence in Contant.

Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined that the man showed no signs of life.

A preliminary investigation found that Pedro Solano Castro was under his truck when it rolled down a short decline and collided with another vehicle, trapping him beneath the truck.

Police said Castro was discovered by a family member, who called 911 for assistance. Castro succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
