Female Driver Dies After Vehicle Crashes Into Tree on Northside Road

ST. CROIX — A St. Croix woman died following a car accident in the wee hours of Saturday morning on Northside Road, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced 

According to the V.I.P.D. news release on Saturday at around 12:54 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of a one-car accident on Northside Road, in the vicinity of the Francis Water Company.

The investigation into the accident revealed the female driver of a burgundy 2015 Acura ILX was traveling north at a high rate of speed, not wearing a seatbelt, lost control of the vehicle, and collided into a tree on the northern shoulder of the road, Mr. Derima said.

The driver, identified as Amaris Chew, age 34 of Estate Calquohoun, died at the scene.

This case remains open and under investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
