Fatal Scooter Accident Claims Life of 65-Year-Old Man on Northside Road

Robert A. Serrano dies after scooter collides with parked truck on Route 75; VIPD investigates circumstances behind tragic incident

ST. CROIX — An accident on Northside Road (Route 75) near Estate Morning Star claimed the life of a 65-year-old man on Tuesday morning, according to the V.I. Police Department. Robert A. Serrano was fatally injured in a collision involving his scooter and a Toyota Tacoma truck.

The incident occurred around 7:17 a.m. on November 5. VIPD's Traffic Investigation Bureau was dispatched to the scene following a request from the 911 Emergency Call Center. Preliminary findings indicate that the Toyota Tacoma had come to a stop after being flagged down by an individual seeking a ride. Moments later, Mr. Serrano, who was wearing a helmet, collided with the rear of the truck while operating his scooter.

Following the crash, Mr. Serrano was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician. VIPD's Traffic Investigation Bureau continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The case remains open and under investigation by the VIPD's Traffic Investigation Bureau.
