The silver 2011 RAV 4 was totaled when it was struck by a grey 2003 GM, which veered into the lane of the RAV 4, causing the deadly collision, according to the V.I. Police Department's Traffic Investigation Bureau.

ST. CROIX — A two-vehicle collision in La Grande Princesse during the wee hours of Sunday morning resulted in the death of one victim, while two others were receiving care at the Juan F. According to police, on Sunday at around 3:55 a.m., the VIPD's Traffic Investigation Bureau (TIB) responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Northside Road Rt 75, close to Blues Barbecue Bar & Grill.

Upon arriving at the scene, TIB investigators found both vehicles in the northwest bound lane, having collided head-on. A preliminary investigation indicated that a silver 2011 RAV 4, driven by 27-year-old Jahniqua Williams, was heading northwest on Northside Road Rt 75. At the same time, a grey 2003 GM was traveling eastbound when it entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with the RAV 4, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by medical attendants due to injuries sustained in the crash. She was later identified by her mother.

Two of the three passengers involved in the collision were transported to JFL for treatment. The preliminary investigation also revealed that none of the drivers or passengers were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash, the VIPD said.

The Traffic Investigations Bureau is continuing its investigation into the fatal incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the collision to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
