28-Year-Old Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident on East End Road

ST. CROIX — A 28-year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained during a single-vehicle accident that occurred Monday night on East End Road, the V.I. Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, police officers were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center at 9:59p.m. to investigate a vehicle collision that occurred on East End Road, Route 82 in the vicinity of Miss Bea Road. 

Upon officers' arrival to the scene, they observed an unresponsive female individual in the passenger side of the vehicle.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Sky Schindler, who was heading west on East End Road at a high rate of speed while driving downhill.

The vehicle, an old-model Suzuki Vitara, skidded more than 134 feet before impacting a Wooden WAPA pole on the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to police.

Schindler was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital's Emergency Room, and it was confirmed by the attending physician that the victim sustained head trauma as a result of the crash.  According to police, Schindler was pronounced dead at 11:28p.m. on Monday.
