Flooding, Accidents, Downed Trees And Stalled Vehicles: Picture Collage of St. Croix's Friday Storm

A weak tropical wave loaded with moisture unsuspectingly struck the Territory Friday, drenching the area with torrential downpours and catching the Dept. of Education, as well as other branches of government and various private sector firms off guard.

This reporter drove around to access the conditions and found an island submerged in water. There was water everywhere -- in homes, on Centerline road and along the Melvin Evans Highway. Downed trees due to the heavy rainfall made traveling difficult. Even the Virgin Islands Elections System office, where ballots from Tuesday's 2014 General Election are still being counted, was affected by the incessant rain.

Below, enjoy a collage of pictures showing some affected areas on St. Croix.
