Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, Ms. Frett-Gregory's office announced Thursday. According to the release, the Senate president, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, began self- quarantining on Tuesday, May 3 after notification of a positive Covid-19 case in her office and underwent testing after experiencing mild symptoms.
Ms. Frett-Gregory was scheduled to present the Official Keys to the Virgin Islands to "four outstanding Virgin Islanders today at a ceremony in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Chambers," according to the release. However, Senate Vice President Novelle Francis will make the official presentations on her behalf.
In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and the V.I. Department of Health guideline, Ms. Frett- Gregory will continue to self-quarantine until May 9. All her public appearances have been canceled.
“Let us continue to stay safe and adhere to the Covid-19 protocols,” she said.
