ST. JOHN — A woman was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive by her boyfriend, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

Just after midnight on Tuesday morning, police say a man “left a local bar to check on his girlfriend at their residence.” When he got there, he reportedly discovered 42-year-old Jamie Cail on the floor.

The man summoned a friend for assistance and with their help, was able to get Ms. Cail, originally from New Hampshire, to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic, where the medical team attempted resuscitation and notified the 911 Emergency Call Center. Ms. Cail succumbed some time afterwards.

The V.I.P.D. notes that the case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and is requesting anyone with information that may assist in their probe to contact 911, or to call the investigating detectives directly (J. Carty at 340-693-8880, or S. Rhymer at 340-774-2211 ext 5572). People can also submit tips at Crime Stoppers USVI here.
