ST. THOMAS — Due to a continued power outage caused by WAPA, all public schools in the St. Thomas-St. John District will be closed, the V.I. Dept. of Education has announced. Initially, some schools had their power restored, but subsequent power failures have occurred, making it impossible to implement a 2-hour delayed start for the district as previously planned.

The department said it has taken this decision in the interest of the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Parents are being notified to collect their children who were dropped off earlier at the schools. Additionally, bus services will be available to assist with transporting students from the school campuses.

The public is urged to stay informed by keeping an eye on department announcements and for updates regarding school operations for Friday, October 6, 2023.
